This outpost looks out over the DMZ, and we could see
some of North Korea through the fog and rain.
This
diagram shows the 3rd infiltration tunnel discovered by South Korea
(in 1985). The North Korean government made such tunnels for the
purposes of spying and invasion. It could allow 10,000 troops an
hour. We traveled into the tunnel, which was as you'll notice
73m (~250 feet) down in solid rock. No pictures were allowed...
This
train station was built with the hope that one day the two Koreas
would be united. The tracks run to the DMZ. The sign above
our heads indicates a stop at the capital of North Korea. Two
photos show a visit by President Bush.
A
place where South Koreans and others were set free after the Korean
War. They came back to the south and cried, "Freedom!"
as they came across from North Korea. People tie ribbons for
their long lost relatives in the North.
